Sugary sauces are everywhere: your ketchup, italian dressing, barbeque sauce, some hot sauces, sweet and sour sauce, Chic Fil A sauce, teriyaki sauce, etc.
I love a good Asian meal, though, so I wanted to find some healthier, refined sugar free Asian dishes that I could easily make at home. I'm not getting out 20 ingredients for a sauce. This has become one of our go-to's.

You can take the teriyaki sauce recipe that I share here and use it over any kind of stir-fry type of meal that you like. This is a budget friendly, easy dinner idea!

Beef and Broccoli with Teriyaki Sauce Recipe
Serves 5-6
Ingredients:
4 c. Broccoli, cut into bite size pieces
2 lbs. Ground beef
Teriyaki Sauce (Recipe below)
Instructions:
Place broccoli in a pot with lid, add a cup of water, top with lid and steam on medium heat until just tender. Drain water from broccoli, put the broccoli back in the pot and set aside.
While broccoli is cooking, brown the ground beef in a skillet. Season with salt and pepper. (You can drain any fat if you would like, I like to keep it if I am eating grass fed beef.)
Combine the beef with the broccoli in the pot, add teriyaki sauce and cook until it starts to thicken.
Serve over brown or white rice or cauliflower rice.

Teriyaki Sauce Recipe
Ingredients:
1/2 c organic soy sauce or coconut aminos
5-6 Tbsp maple syrup
4 Tbsp rice vinegar
1.5 cup water (cool or cold)
3 tsp ginger, peeled and roughly chopped (sub 1 tsp dried, ground ginger if needed)
6 cloves garlic, roughly chopped (sub 1 tsp dried, granulated garlic if needed)
1 Tbl. arrowroot powder (or organic cornstarch)
Instructions:
Combine all ingredients in blender. Pour over about 6 c of stir-fry mixture (such as beef and broccoli above) and cook on low-medium heat until sauce thickens, this will just take a few minutes.
